Another positive post! I had posted about him not wanting to go to school but that seems to have disappeared literally over night. Last night i braced myself for this morning for no reason, i slept badly ...for no reason. He was absolutely fine.
Today whilst Lani was having a nap, he asked to read a book....yes he asked. So shocked was i that i nearly forgot my 'ultra cool mummy' exterior, 'yes, ok Kayne, what book would you like?' (think Cornflake comercial), it nearly sounded like: *thud* 'Oh My a book? you reading of you own accord?'. I'm glad i kept my excitement in! He read 12 pages of The Gingerbread Man (by Ladybird) by himself. We have also just finished reading 'The Chocolate Monster'. He was SO proud of himself 'I have just read a book all by myself!'. It took ages to get through his 8 page school book in comparison to the last chapter of this book.
We slashed his computer time to 1/2 hour a day to see what would happen. He would use various computer devices making a total of 2-3 hours (shocking i know), admittedly some of it was educational so it didn't seem too bad. Anyway the change has been shocking. In addition to asking to read books (not that he didn't have access to them he just has never asked to read outside of the going to bed routine) and he is alot less reactive to things, happy and starting to engage his brain again.
Gone is the SHELL of my boy, the sound of his laughter peeling throught the flat at something silly is beautiful (carpet....you know car...pet!! hilarious when you are 4). The stress of him starting nursery is waning, though i know it will be back by the end of August. I'm thinking about asking to have a chat about his provision for next year. Just so i can see about having a (almost) stress free summer and maybe getting out and meeting people.
